2005 IEEE/PES Technical Committee Distinguished Service Award

Because it was not available in time from the IEEE Power Engineering Society, the 2005 IEEE/PES Technical Committee Distinguished Service Award will be presented at our Fall 2006 meeting on St. Pete Beach on October 30, 2006.

IEEE/PES Fellows Class of 2006

The Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) highest grade of Fellow recognizes excellence for notable achievements in power engineering and industrial applications. The Fellow grade is conferred upon people of outstanding and extraordinary qualifications and experience in the various fields of the IEEE for their important individual contributions to one or more technical fields. In accordance with IEEE bylaws, the total number of Fellows selected in any one year does not exceed one-tenth of one percent of the total membership of over 300,000 people. The selection to Fellow requires the endorsement of five Fellows, a Technical Committee, and the Board of Fellows of an IEEE Society as well as the IEEE Board of Directors. The following former members of the Insulated Conductors Committee were recognized:

Roy Alexander PPL Electric Utilities Bethlehem, PA, USA for contributions to technology for capacitor bank switching and the standardization of switchgear.

Philip Bolin Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. Warrendale, PA, USA for development of compressed gas insulated transmission bus and substations.
