December 17, 2014 - Updates to Standards Status & Policies and Procedures for Working Groups

Two important documents have been updated on the website, of particular interest to all Working group chairs and vice chairs.  Standards Chair John Merando has updated the standards status spreadsheet to reflect some recent PAR extensions.  WG Chairs/Vice Chairs should check this to make sure their understanding of their PAR status matches the IEEE SA's status.
Also updated are the Policies and Procedures for Working Groups which were recently modified by the IEEE-SA Audit Committee.  Any questions about these changes should be directed to Lauri Hiivala.

November 20, 2014 - NRC Engineer of the Year

ICC's own Gabe Taylor was recently recognized as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Engineer of the Year. Gabe has been active in ICC for several years and now serves as Chair of WG D19 IEEE P 1844, Standard For Testing Fire Resistive Cables For Use In Nuclear Facilities and Vice Chair of WG D15 IEEE P1202 Vertical Tray Flame Test Protocol. Gabe is an Engineer in the NRC's Fire Research Branch in Rockville, MD. Each year the NRC selects its top Engineer from among its3,800 employees. That Engineer then is automatically in competition for the Federal Engineer of the Year Award with candidates from 24 other Federal Agencies. Gabe will join these other winners for the announcement of the overall winner at a ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington, DC on February 26, 2015. Congratulations and good luck Gabe!!

November 20, 2014 - Fall Meeting Awards

We honored a number of our members at the Fall 2014 Meeting, including presenting the ICC Distinguished Service Award to Joe Zimnoch, and the 2014 PES Technical Council Young Professionals Award to Michael Mueller.  Check out all the awards here.

October 23, 2014 - Guidance for Technical Subcommittees and Working Groups

Two presentations were given at the fall meeting, which are important for anyone wanting to be active with standards development.  A presentation on our ICC Policies and Procedures for Working Groups was given, outlining the rules we are required to follow in working groups.  Also given was a presentation on Robert's Rules of Order, and their application to the standards process.  These presentations contain infomration important not just for WG Chairs and Vice Chairs, but anyone involved in the standards process.  Thanks to Lauri Hiivala for these presentations.
