In the Winter of 1998, SC 8 was inactivated as a part of the ICC reorganization. It had been meeting jointly with SC 9 for several years. Minutes of those meetings can be found on the SC-9 Homepage
Distribution of electrical energy at utilization voltages by means of insulated conductors. Included are National Electrical Code developments, wiring material and wiring systems.
The Utilization Wiring Subcommittee's primary mission is to provide a discussion forum to update the ICC membership on current issues with respect to the construction and use of insulated conductors by those outside of the electric utility industry. In addition, when necessary, working groups are to be formed to generate organized study of issues requiring new standards development or input to other standards development organizations worldwide.
