ICC Sponsors Five Successful Panel Sessions


The Insulated Conductors Committee sponsored five panel sessions at the recent PES summer power meeting in Berlin, Germany. The panels covered a broad range of topics and drew respectable crowds of 15 to 30 interested individuals. The panel sessions are briefly described below. A more detailed description of the panel sessions with the Chair phone numbers will be provided in a future update on this subject.

Title: World Wide Underground Distribution Cable Practices

Chair: Harry Orton Panelists:

These panelists descirbed the wide variety of distribution cable parctices used around the world.

Title: Laminate Sheaths for Long Life Cables

Chair: Ken Bow

Panelists:

These panelists described various techniques for applying laminate moisture barriers to underground distribution cables and the reasoning behind each of the designs used.

Title: Internationalization of Cable Standards

Chair: Rick Hartlein

Panelists:

These panelists covered the many standards organizations throughout the world which write cable standards for underground distribution and transmission. The session serves as an excellent forum for the US based IEEE attendees to better understand European and Japanese practices and for the European and Japanese representatives to better understand US practices.
