July 23, 2014 - 2014 PES Technical Council Young Professionals Award

Michael Mueller, Vice-Chairman of Subcommittee C Cable Systems, has received the 2014 PES Technical Council Young Professionals Award with the following citation: “For contributions to and leadership of the Cable Systems Subcommittee of the Insulated Conductors Committee.” This award recognizes the contributions of young members of PES.  PES Young Professionals are PES members who have received their first professional degree within the last ten years. It will be presented at our next meeting in Colorado Springs.

June 27, 2014 - Why Conferences Matter

June 18, 2014 - Bahder Award Paper Publication

The Insulated Conductors Committee Bahder Award was created in recognition of the contributions made by Dr. George Bahder to the science and technology of insulated power cables. The award consists of a plaque and a $2,500 stipend/scholarship that is made in the recipient’s name to an electric power engineering department, or equivalent, at a university or college of the recipient’s choice.
At the Spring 2012 Insulated Conductors Committee meeting, Nagu Srinivas, who was awarded a plaque, requested that the $2,500 donation go to the Electrical Power Engineering Department of Arizona State University. These funds supported Longfei Cui while a graduate student there.
His Master of Science thesis entitled Detection and Analysis of Partial Discharges in Non-uniform Field is now available on the ICC Downloads section of our website.

June 16, 2014 - T&D World Editorial Features ICC

Those who were able to attend the opening session of the Spring meeting got to hear T&D World Editorial Director and former ICC regular Rick Bush give the keynote speech.  Rick featured the ICC in his June 2014 "Global Viewpoint" editorial section in the T&D World Magazine.  We've received permission ot post Rick's article here.

May 23, 2014 - Spring 2014 Meeting Awards

We had a highly successful Spring 2014 meeting in Kansas City, with an extermely large turnout.  Numerous awards and recognitions were given out at the spring meeting, including the previously announced 2014 IEEE Herman Halperin Electric Transmission and Distribution Award to Willem Boone, and the presentation of the IEEE Fellow award to Kent Brown.  Read more about these and the other awards given this spring by clicking here.

April 15, 2014 - Spring 2014 Newsletter

The 5th ICC Newsletter is now available here!  The ICC sends these Newsletters periodically to communicate current committee events, information about upcoming meetings, how the ICC functions, benefits the ICC brings to the electric utility industry, development and maintenance of wire and cable and accessory standards used in the industry and other topics of interest.
